Results

The Virginia Green program was developed to address the enormous environmental impacts of the tourism industry.  More than 1700 Virginia tourism operations have certified their green programs and practices.  And the amazing news is that our collective efforts are having incredible results!

And oh yeah, cost savings too!  To date, Virginia Green Travel Partners have saved nearly $300 million through reduced utility fees and other services.

Recognition

Certified Virginia Green Travel Partners are recognized when they join the program through social media, newsletters, etc; and they “get” a certificate, window decals and placards, and full use of the Virginia logo.  And the VGTA works to promote our partners every day and every chance we get.   (images of logo, certificate, etc)
The Virginia Green Travel Star Awards.  For the past 6 years, we’ve also recognized the greenest tourism partners through our Virginia Green Travel Star Awards.  The awards are presented annually at the culmination of the Virginia Green Travel Conference.  To date, we’ve recognized more than 130 of our partners in 12 different categories.  To learn more about the awards, go here.
